Own it!

Hello Fabulous People!!

I am so happy to be a guest designer for  Sassy and Crafty this week to show off this amazing new stamp set! I hope I can show you a few tricks to make an image pop with tools you may already have!

I am using the new Sassy Girls – Own it stamp set and I am so pleased with the details in this stamp.

Here is what I did:

I used Copics as my coloring medium thus needing an ink pad that is Copic friendly, such as the Gina K Designs Black Amalgam Ink. I am also using a MISTI for stamping. Once you stamp her in the middle of an A2 sized heavy cardstock base, leave the girl in the MISTI and don’t move her. I’ll show you a trick to make her appear crisper at the end.

Masking techniques are fun to use and can add amazing dimension and depth to a one layer card. Go ahead and stamp another girl on masking paper. Cut out and put aside.
Her hair is a mixture of yellow, red, and brown Copics. First, apply Y06 in the highlighted areas, or where the light would hit her hair and flick R17 into the yellow areas. This is not a true recipe, but I always play with my redheads to get a fun look. Flick E39 into the red areas and work closer towards her hair part. Finally, use E79 in the part and on the hair behind and next to her neck, anywhere shadows would fall. Finally, use a white gel pen to create more highlights if it looks flat.

Her skin is a mixture of E11, E000, and 0, the blender. Apply E11 in the shadow areas around her forehead, where her clothes end (or start), sides of her arms and neck. For her face, apply E11 at her hairline and draw smile triangles for her cheekbones. Take E000 and go over E11 and extend it over the skin areas. This will give you a good blend and an additional shadow line. Use the blender in her chest area or where too much color is.
I used B99 for her dress with white Gel pen highlights. A gold Wink of Stella brush added some shine to her earrings and the mascara bottle.

Let’s finish the card with a WOW background. Cover the girl with the already cutout mask and pull out Distress Oxides. I used Blueprint Sketch all over with Chipped Sapphire around the edges. Blend Black Soot all around the edges again. Miss Inks has this wavy patterned styled stencil and I used Fossilized Amber with this stencil. Heat set all of this for about 30 seconds. Next, use an antistatic tool all over the card. I used Versamark and Ranger Liquid Platinum to stamp and heat emboss the “Own It” freehand on the top of the card. I did get some loose embossing powder in between the words but it added some “Glam” to it.

Now for the last trick! Uncover your girl and place her back in the MISTI. I used Altenew’s Obsidian Pigment Ink, which gives super crisp impressions, over the whole image. The Amalgam Ink didn’t give me the black I wanted, but I needed it for the Copic markers. So now you get to have the best of both worlds!

I hope you learned a few new things and will support Beth and Amy in their new venture together! You can also follow me on my Facebook page for more inspiration!

Have a great weekend!
